Built in 1934 to replace an earlier light, the west pierhead light at the entrance to Oswego Harbour stands on a caisson at the end of a 2000 foot long breakwater extending a half mile into Lake Ontario. Automated in 1968 and curently solar powered. the light continues to operate as an aid to navigation. The building is being restored. Leased by the H. Lee White Maritime Museum from the city of Oswego, limited public access (tours) are likely in the near future
