In Brockville, Ontario, a 1/3 mile long tunnel was constructed in the mid-nineteenth century to connect the rail yards to their waterfront industries, the first railway tunnel in Canada. The tunnel remained in use for over a century. Recently renovated and re-opened, it presents a cool respite from the summer heat. The tunnel remained in use for over a century.
