This bridge is on Spile Bridge Road, between Lost Village Road in the town of Oswegatchie and Route 184 in DePeyster over the Black Lake outlet between the towns. Built in 1890 and originally used as the Spring Street span over the Oswegatchie River in Ogdensburg, it is one of only five bowstring arch bridges remaining in NY state that were built by Zenas King, a DePeyster native. Mr. King founded King Bridge Co., Cleveland. Closed 'temporarily' in 2010 due to developing structural deficiencies, the bridge remains closed, resulting in a 15 mile detour necessary to travel from homes on one side of the river to homes on the opposite side. Although used by some foot traffic, there appears to be little hope the bridge will be repaired.
