  • Sitting at the edge of the Tug Hill Plateau, this picturesque little farm overlooks the Black River Valley and the Adirondack Mountains in the distance. A light rain makes everything fresh and alive.

  • Located just outside Whitaker Falls Park, a bridge on Glendale Road crosses Roaring Brook upstream of the main falls. This pretty little flume is accessible from the road. The banks are covered with poison ivy, so be careful where you go.

  • Just outside Martinsburg, New York, is a municipal camp ground and park next to Roaring Brook. From the east end of the campground, a trail leads to the riverbank beyond the park boundary maybe 500 yards to a place where we found a blue rope to assist our descent into the gorge. Wlking back upstream, we found the lower falls, a pretty little cascade about 12 feet high. After climbing the edge of the lower falls, we rounded a bend and found the middle falls, a curtain of water about 25 feet high and flowing about 5 feet off of the cliff face. Yes we could walk behind the falls!

  • Just outside Martinsburg, New York, is a municipal camp ground and park next to Roaring Brook. From the campground, a set of stairs leads to the riverbed, and a short treck east from the stairs bring you to a steep set of rock stairs which you can climb down to the base of the upper falls, a pretty flume in summer, and probably a raging torrent in the spring.
